Biographical Information:

Dr. Roger Lee King is the Executive Director of the Institute for Computational Research in Engineering and Science (ICRES) and a Giles Distinguished professor.

King received his BS in electrical engineering from West Virginia University in 1973, a MS in electrical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh in 1977, and a doctorate from the University of Wales in the United Kingdom in 1988.

As the Executive Director of ICRES, King coordinates, facilitates and expands research activities across MSU academic and research units and helps maintain a leadership position for MSU and Mississippi in engineering applications of high performance computing. ICRES leverages and expands MSU research efforts in high performance computing, physics based modeling and simulation, and science/engineering related to the nation's industrial base. ICRES also focuses on economic development through its three MSU research/economic development centers: Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems (CAVS) -- located in Starkville, MS; Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems Extension (CAVS-E) -- located in Canton, MS; and, the Institute for Systems Engineering Research (CAVS-ISER) -- located in Vicksburg, MS ICRES benefits the state of Mississippi by serving as an economic engine in areas of systems engineering, manufacturing process control, development of new designs and products, and professional development for Mississippi manufacturers.

Awards Dr. King has earned include Fellow, IEEE; the Bagley College of Engineering Career Achievement Award; Honorary Professor at Cardiff University; J. Donald Trotter Electrical and Computer Engineering Leadership Award; MSU Alumni Association Outstanding Faculty Research Award; William L. Giles Distinguished Professor; MSU College of Engineering Outstanding Faculty Researcher; Academy of Distinguished Alumni of the Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, West Virginia University; and Ralph E. Powe Research Award.

Dr. King serves on the Board of Directors for the Mississippi Automotive Manufacturers Association and the Mississippi Energy Institute. He has authored over 250 publications and book chapters, served on editorial boards of journals, and holds 4 patents.
